Here’s a guide so you don’t over or under tip.

You’re probably wondering how much tip is accepted in Mexico City since every almost place requires tipping.

We have the custom to tip for every service we receive in Mexico, from a waiter in the restaurant to the guy who helps us park in a busy street.

Here’s a guide so you don’t over or under tip.

1. Restaurants

This is the easiest one, you should tip between 10 and 15% of the total check, depending on the service and the type of restaurant. If you feel like the service was great and really loved the place you can give up to 18-20%.

2. Spas

You should tip between 15-20% of the total.

3. Taxis

You can choose to tip or not to. If you decide to do it, 10 pesos is perfectly fine.

4. Hotels

You can give $20 to $50 pesos to the bellboy or the housekeeper.

5. To the person helping you park or some service in the street.

This is just for thanking them and it’s usually ok to tip them between 10 and 20 pesos.

6. Tours

10-20% of the total cost of the tour is acceptable! Remember, if you are taking a tour with us, the best tip is always having a blast and recommending with your friends!!

  •   Never having been on an e-bike and generally afraid of riding in the city, I arrived at Nomad Mexico E-Bike Tours with a bit of trepidation. Boy, was I wrong!... read more Ismael and Raul welcomed us, fit the bikes, instructed us on the mechanics and we were off like little chicks following their mother. Winding through gorgeous parks and tree lined streets stopping for educational breaks, breathing in the beauty and the culture of Mexico City. This was a fantastic overview of the city and well as a wonderful taste of Mexican history. Both Ismael and Raúl were attentive, extremely well informed, and with excellent English. I enjoyed this tour so much that I did it a second time when a group of friends arrived later in my trip. If you do one tour in CDMX, do this one!
